JOHNNY Watterson’s Lane reopens today (Friday) after completion of a major improvement scheme. The road closed for the work to start on August 3 and was scheduled to remain shut for 34 weeks but more efficient working practices have allowed completion in just nine weeks. Transport Minister David Anderson MHK said: ‘The department was able to accelerate the programme by introducing new working methods, including a shift working system and plastic kerbs. ‘This project has demonstrated that by using modern working practices we can deliver a more efficient service and reduce disruption to the travelling public and residents.’ Here.
