The Chicago Manx Society is pleased to be hosting, from afar, the North American Manx Association Convention 2026. The Convention is scheduled for July 10-12, 2026. The Convention hotel for activities and meetings will be the Hotel Cleveland, 24 Public Square, Cleveland. The hotel is in the heart of downtown Cleveland. This historic hotel has just completed a complete massive renovation of all guest rooms and public areas. NAMA has secured a block of rooms at a favorable rate. The 100+ year history of the Hotel Cleveland gives us both old world elegance combined with all modern amenities. The rate will also allow for a stay for days before and after the convention.

Many activities for the convention are in the planning stages, including tours of the well-known structures built by John Gill & Sons in the Cleveland Area. John Gill emigrated from the Isle of Man in 1854 and became a prominent builder in Cleveland and elsewhere. We are planning tours of Terminal Tower, the Allen Theater, and other important sights of Cleveland. We are also planning a visit to the Clague House & Museum in Westlake, Ohio. The schedule will allow ample time for you to see places that interest you, possibly including the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, located only 3 blocks from the hotel.
Cleveland has a long history of Manx settlers, forming the Mona Relief Society in 1851. Cleveland was instrumental in organizing the first Great Manx Homecoming in 1927, which led to the formation of the North American Manx Association. 2026 will be a time to explore Cleveland while paying homage to our Manx roots and those pioneers who came to the New World. More details will be announced in future Bulletins.
We are trying to contact local Cleveland Manx Society members. Please contact Brad Prendergast, Chicago Manx Society and NAMA Board Member. For this and any other issues email: northamericanmanx@gmail.com
2028
While NAMA is busy organizing our 2026 biannual convention in Cleveland, Ohio, we are already working on preparations for the 2028 convention, which will return us to the Isle of Man.
This will be our Centenary Convention, marking 100 years of NAMA, which was founded in 1928 in Cleveland, Ohio, as a successor to the Mona’s Relief Society. Therefore, we are planning a special event to commemorate the anniversary and our Manx connections.
