Isle of Man walking festival gets under way today!

Raad ny Foillan (The way of the gull) is a circular path starting in Douglas and following the caost around the island.  Members of the public on the Isle of Man are being encouraged to discover somewhere new as the annual walking festival gets under way.

The five-day event offers a variety of routes, from a four-mile stroll through a glen to the 95-mile Raad ny Foillan coastal footpath.

The event culminates in a “blister party” on the final night.

Festival Director Sue Dennis said: “Local residents often see parts of the island they have never seen before.” She added: “Routes include coastal walks covering areas such as Cregneash, The Chasms, The Ayres and at the Ballaugh Curraghs we sometimes see the wild wallabies”.

The festival runs between 13 and 17 May.
