Mad Sunday deaths down

THERE was a ‘significant reduction’ in the number of road accidents on Mad Sunday this year, police records show. Police dealt with eight crashes on Sunday, nicknamed Mad Sunday because it is traditionally the time when large numbers of TT fans attempt to race around the Mountain Course on open roads.

Two incidents resulted in broken bones, but the rest involved only damage to vehicles. The tally represented a drop of more than two thirds compared with Mad Sunday last year, when there were 26 crashes.
