This is a great article from the US Motorsport.com website about Mike Hailwood whom I remember because I’m old and had a dad and an uncle who were car-struck. My dad also did radio commentaries on the TT races back in the 1960s and I remember listening to him at home on the old valve wireless (radio to you whippersnappers). In those more sensitive days he commented “and he’s coming round the bend (or whatever) like a Bat out of He–you know where!” He is also famous for screaming when he bounced up and down in excitement on the old wooden schoolchair in the radio hut and managed to get a splinter in his you know what. Anyway, Hailwood is a racing hero. Check the link for a great article.
